Velipoja Beach, Shkoder
Velipoja is located in the region of Shkodra, close to the borders with Montenegro. The tourist area extends to an area of 300 ha and is bounded on the north by ‘Rezervati i Menaxhuar’ of Velipojë, on the south by the Adriatic Sea, on the east by the district of Lezha and on the west by river Buna (the only navigable river of Albania). The coastline is about 8 km, and it includes the island of Franc Josef, which continually changes its shape. The boundary line follows the Lower Buna.
The touristic village of Velipoja, located 35 km from the city of Shkodër, is a charming touristic center, with diverse landscapes, where the beach, the river, the delta with islands, the hills, the fields, the lagoons, the forest, and the wetlands are intertwined. This area is well-known for its early history and traditions, with prominent, welcoming farmers and fishers all over Albania.
Also, the clear seawater, the hunting reservoir, the Viluni lagoon, and the tides and reefs offer stunning beauty. Forests, mostly poplar, present throughout the beach up to 200 meters near the sea, give the beach freshness even on the hottest days. The Velipoja beach is one of the largest on the Adriatic coast, with a length of 14 kilometers. The water is excellent, with golden sand; it is one of the best on the Adriatic coast.
The small depth of the beach near the shores makes it suitable for families with young children. “The most convenient beach for children. The south may be more beautiful, but it’s not so ideal for families with children.
