Thethi National Park covers an area of 2630 an is located at the height of 600 – 2.570m above sea level. The park is rich in forests, of which dense beech forests cover 90%.
There is a variety of plants, where it is worth to mention “Wulfenia Baldacci,” an endemic plant that was discovered by Italian botanist Baldacci. This flower is found only in Thethi National Park. Moreover, in the park, there are 50 species of birds, 10 species of reptiles, and 8 species of amphibians. Thethi National Park remains the most important habitat in Albania of the highly endangered Lynx lynx (wild cat species).
Local tradition recognized a single common ancestor for the community, Ded Nika, suggesting that the population has moved to Theth 300 to 350 years ago in order to preserve their Catholic Cristian traditions while Albania was occupied by the Ottoman Empire.
Although the Canun of Leke Dukagjini still remains influential, Theth did not experience the post-communist reappearance of blood feuds as in other parts of Northern Albania. It still preserves one of the few remaining lock-in towers, used as a meeting point to negotiate and resolve several blood feud conflicts in the past.
