Shegani Eye is located in North Albania, near Shkodra Lake.
It is a large karstic spring, which emerges vertically in tectonic-karstic fissures and is connected to two other springs of this type called ‘hurdhana’, with a flow of about 1500 liters per second.
The spring emerges from a vertical chimney with a depth of about 22 – 28 m and a diameter of 3 – 5 m. It is also known as the Siphon of Vir.
It is located on the shores of Shkodra Lake, in the village of Gashaj, Bajza, Malësia e Madhe municipality, about 40 km away from the city of Shkodra and 14 km from the city of Koplik.
You can go to Shegani Eye, via Bajzë-Mokset-Gashaj-Shegani eye road, on the same way toward Hani Hotit border with Montenegro.
It is an attractive place of extraordinary beauty, with very fresh water that springs from the depths of the earth and that gives you the impression of a giant eye of our nature!
Due to its features, it was declared a natural monument (category III of IUCN) in 2002.
