Village of Tamara

24 km away from Lepushe, 280 m above the sea level, in the spot where 2 rivers join, Cem of Selca and Cem of Vukli, lies the village of Tamara. It was named after Tamara, the wife of Vizier of Shkoder who also built the famous Tamara Bridge.

Selce Village

You should not miss Selce Village, located 8 km away from Tamara toward Lepushe. The village is traversed by the 900-meter long Gerrle Canyon, which is created by the powerful streams of the Cem River and provides breathtaking views. Another destination is Sllap Waterfall, a 30 meter high, which on sunny days it creates beautiful rainbows by the water drops.

There are several karstic caves around Lepusha, in Tamara and Selce, which can be explored by tourists, however for safety reasons it is recommended to always visit caves accompanied by local guides.

History

Archeologists have found Illyrian coins in Selce and ceramic fragments, copper and iron tools, animal fossils and charcoal drawings from the Bronze Age, indicating early settlements in the area.
