Curraj Eperm, Tropoje!
Considered by scholars, local and foreign visitors as the pearl of the Albanian Alps Curraj Epërm, is a village and at the same time a monument of culture, nature, and history. So, it is a tourist attraction on its own, as it lies amidst high mountain peaks.
In the surrounding area, there are hazelnut trees and old beeches, and if you go to the mountain peak, you can find even fir. In the middle of the village, there is a field surrounded by slopes and among them stone towers with a pyramidal cover of pine trees. Between the roads, there are pure water sources.
Rock of the Force
At the entrance of Curraj, on the right-hand stands the Rock of the Force as a giant fortress, and along with the Qeresh e Qereshit, the Gate of the Gate, the Shtigë e Zhigut, Mrrethin, Rruku e Piku constitute the high surrounding crown giving this village the appearance of a natural amphitheater.
The Currajs’ Mountains as described in the heroic songs that talk about “Lugjet e Verdha,” “Muje, Halil, Omer, Ore, Zan.” Currajt e Epër, is known as the cradle of “Epos I Kreshnikeve.” Concretely, Mirash Gjoni from Curraj I Epërm is also known as the creative lyricist of the song “Ajkuna ka Omerin” but also as the original singer who memorized over ten thousand verses.

A little bit history
In the early 1900s the archaeologists, ethnographer, geologist and scientist Baroni Franc Nopça, undertook two exploration expeditions in the village of Curraj i Epërm, and marveled by the beauty of this village, the culture and hospitality of its inhabitants, unmatched by any other country, proposes to the Austrian Parliament to declare this village a cultural monument.
In 1992, Curraj counted over 200 families, and today there are only four families who are going to winter there and about seven families that are coming from these two guest houses, Martin Coli and Ndue Mitri, with the possibility to accommodate about 40 people.
