Declared as a Museum City in 1963, Gjirokastra is a World Cultural Heritage (UNESCO site) since the year 2005. Today has become one of the most visited cultural attractions in Albania together with Berat and the ancient city of Butrint. All of them UNESCO sites. In every alley stone, bridge, house, neighborhood, infrastructural work, is preserved the identity and values of the Albanian culture, where Gjirokastra has a very valuable contribution.
